Betsy DeVos is unfit to serve as Secretary of Education.

She’s steadily worked to defund public schools in order to funnel taxpayer dollars to religious schools.

She transformed the rules governing sexual assault and harassment on college campuses into a set of ruthless, regressive, victim-shaming policies designed to protect perpetrators by bullying survivors into silence.

She defied court orders in order to demand loan payments from thousands of former students of for-profit “colleges” that shut down after fraud allegations.

She’s gutted protections for LGBTQIA+ students.

She allowed schools to use federal funds to buy guns.

She even attempted to slash funding for the Special Olympics.

Now, she’s rushing to reopen schools in the middle of the coronavirus, despite overwhelming evidence that doing so puts kids and families at risk.

These aren’t the actions of someone who believes in students – or in education. Every day that she remains in office is a threat to our children and communities.
